Bachelor Degree obtained outside Italy

In order to prepare your application, please follow the instructions on the Application Portal for master applications.

Before preparing your application, please check the following admission requirements and personal preparation requirements.

Admission requirements

To access the Master’s degree course in Geoengineering, knowledge of the English language of at least CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) B2 level is mandatory, proven either by a three-year diploma obtained in the English language or by the presence in the three-year curriculum of at least 3 ECTS of English language of an equal or higher level, or through the presentation of a certificate issued by the University Language Centre, or by other body acknowledged by the Ministry. Any certification must have been obtained within the 5 years preceding the request.

At the official Language center of the University of Florence (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo - CLA), the applicant can test knowledge in English Language and acquire the requested certificate. To have access to B2 level English laboratories and/or test sessions, the applicant has to present the official document issued by the Degree Course stating the need to acquire a B2 level of English language for the enrollment.

The Teaching Committee will assess the applicant’s curricular background and personal preparation, on the basis of the exams taken to get the previous graduation and through the verification of his/her personal education background. If the applicant won’t achieve the entry requirements, the Educational Committee will ask him/her to obtain the required missing ECTS and will provide the necessary information on how to obtain them.

Personal preparation requirements

After having verified the possession of the curricular requirements and language knowledge, personal preparation is deemed satisfied by graduates who present a graduation grade greater than or equal to 90/110 (or equivalent grade for those graduated abroad). In other cases, and in any case whenever the opportunity is recognized, the candidate will be required to undergo a supplementary interview with the Teaching Committee or its Delegate, following which the Committee will decide on the admissibility or otherwise of the candidate.

Self-assessment of the degree final grade

The candidate is required to make a self-evaluation of his/her degree grade using the specific conversion formula and to report the value inside the application form.

                                       Grade = [(V - Vmin) / (Vmax - Vmin)] * (Imax - Imin) + Imin

V = Grade to be converted

Vmin = Minimum passing grade at the home University

Vmax = Maximum grade at the home University

Imin = Minimum passing grade at Italian Universities (= 66/110)

Imax = Maximum grade at Italian Universities (= 110/110)

Please, note that self-assessment requires a minimum score of 90/110 as per the regulations, though the Teaching Committee reserves the right to evaluate based on the candidate's specific course of study.
