Adopted in 2015 by 193 UN Member States, the 2030 Agenda provides a global framework for sustainable development through 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It promotes an integrated approach to economic, social, and environmental challenges, structured around five key dimensions: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.
GEM contributes to key Sustainable Development Goals by providing advanced knowledge and tools for geo-hydrological risk assessment and sustainable land management. In particular, it supports SDG 6 through water-related hazard management, SDG 11 by enhancing urban and territorial resilience, SDG 13 through climate-related risk prevention and adaptation, and SDG 15 by promoting the sustainable management and protection of terrestrial environments.
